A group in Harrisonburg and Rockingham County (called the Metropolitan Planning Organization or HRMPO for short) is working on creating a plan to provide improved walking and biking opportunities to many more people. We’re especially hopeful to see increased safety and opportunity around our schools so that families can walk and bike to/from school. If safe streets and increased bicycling and walking are of interest to you, please take this easy 10-minute survey to ensure your opinions are heard.

Your feedback will be used to assess the current status of walking and bicycling in the Harrisonburg/Rockingham region, to identify issues facing bicyclists and pedestrians, and for the HRMPO to use your suggestions to improve options for our community. Please pass the survey on to anyone who might be willing to complete it! And feel free to post on your Facebook or Twitter too.

Survey Purpose: Gather community input to inform a master biking and walking plan for the metropolitan planning district including Harrisonburg and Rockingham County.

Background: Harrisonburg has a citywide plan, and the HRMPO recently lined up funds to pay for a professional study and comprehensive Bicycle & Pedestrian Plan for the greater metro area in and around Harrisonburg. This work will build on the City’s Plan and will increase safety, health, transportation options and overall connectivity in the Central Shenandoah Valley.
